Group of Nashville, Tennessee related coin silver flatware including 1 Campbell & Donigan Gravy Ladle, 1 John Campbell condiment ladle, 2 Thomas McCowat teaspoons, 1 JM Smith Teaspoon, and 6 Gates & Pohlman tablespoons. 1st item: Coin silver gravy ladle, stamped CAMPBELL & DONIGAN in rectangle with elephant pseudohallmark for John Campbell and George Washington Donigan, in partnership in Nashville, 1853-1855. Rounded fins and fiddle tipt handle, not monogrammed. 7 7/8". 2nd item: Coin silver condiment ladle, stamped J. CAMPBELL for John Campbell, working Fayetteville, NC 1818-1836 and Nashville, TN 1835-1857(?), fiddle handle monogrammed JBMK in script, 4 7/8"L. 3rd & 4th items: Two (2) coin silver teaspoons, stamped MCCOWAT in rectangle for Thomas McCowat, working Leesburg, VA C. 1811-1820; Nashville, TN c. 1820-1835, and Jackson, TN c. 1835-1853+. Rounded oval handles, monogrammed JS. (Note: this early form suggests these spoons are likely from McCowat's period working in Virginia or Nashville). 5th item: Coin silver teaspoon, stamped J. M. SMITH in serrated rectangle for James M. Smith, working Nashville circa 1835, with pointed fins and fiddle handle monogrammed NA. 5 1/2"L. 6th -12th items: Six (6) coin silver tablespoons with rounded fins and fiddle tipt handles monogrammed JR with incuse marks on back GATES & POHLMAN. 8 1/3"L. Note: According to TENNESSEE SILVERSMITHS by Dr. Benjamin H. Caldwell, William Pohlman and W.T. Gates went into business together in 1865, succeeding G.W. Donigan in his old shop at the corner of Union and College Streets in Nashville, retailing imported silver. Combined weight all items: 13.41 oz troy.

Condition

Gravy ladle, J.M. Smith and McCowat spoons show some denting and edge wear to bowls but are in overall good condition. Other items excellent condition.
