Set of twelve (12) Kentucky coin silver forks marked POINDEXTER, incuse, for William P. Poindexter, active Lexington, 1818-1859. All of Classical design with pointed ends monogrammed "Nettie" within garland and anthemion wreaths; reverse with anthemion and c scroll design and with later engraved monograms "Ellen D. Witherspoon." 7 7/8" L. Combined weight 20.75 oz troy. Circa 1850s. Note: Ellen D. Witherspoon was listed in the 1919 issue of "Wallace's Yearbook: Trotting and Pacing" as a horse breeder in Versailles, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Martinette "Nettie" Viley and Lewis J. Witherspoon of Woodford Co. KY.
