1st item: Small New York wooden dome top storage box with iron hardware, red painted surface. Inscriptions inside read "[illegible] Oct 6 1827" and "To Susan Ann Post 12-25-46." Provenance: The Stickney family of Massena, New York area, through descent. 6 7/16" H x 15 1/6" W x 7 5/16" D. First half of 19th Century. 2nd item: Likely Appalachian miniature split oak buttocks basket. Early 20th century. 4" H x 6 1/4" W x4 1/2" D. 3rd item: Jugate political ribbon, gilt embossed on blue ground PROHIBITION AND REFORM / ST JOHN AND DANIEL, for the 1884 third party campaign, manufactured by Torsche & Lee, Baltimore MD. Printed paper label for Secretary at Headquarters Prohibition State Committee. 6" H x 2 3/8" W. 4th item: Commemorative ribbon for Captain Luther Priest of the Grand Army of the Republic, printed on cream ground IN MEMORY OF OUR NOBLE DEAD / LUTHER PRIEST POST, NO. 167, DEPARTMENT OF NEW YORK G.A.R. with an image of the GAR medal. 6 1/4" H x 2 7/8" W. Note: Luther Priest is listed as "Captain" under Commander Albert D. Cross, Co. D, 175th NY in 1899 Military Obituaries published in THE NATIONAL TRIBUNE, Jan. 18, 1900.

Condition

1st item: Overall good condition. Wear is commensurate with use, with scattered scratches, losses to finish, and some splitting of wood. An 11" split on top has been inexpertly repaired. Hinges on back have been replaced and hardware on front has missing latch. 2nd item: Overall excellent condition. 3rd item: Fading and wear commensurate with age, including creasing to upper edge and fraying to lower edge. Loss of original printed portrait medallions. Minute losses to gilt. 4th item: Toning and scattered discoloration commensurate with age; fraying to lower edge, top edge is glued.
