2 American Quilts, Log Cabin Sunshine & Shadow Circa 1890, Drunkard's Path

Two (2) American quilts. 1st item: Log cabin pattern quilt in the Sunshine and Shadow layout, rendered in cotton and wool fabrics, including brown and dark neutral challis, red plaid, and patterned centers. The quilt top was made on a foundation and applied to a backing comprised of printed dress robe fabric with a separately applied black binding. The quilt is lightweight with no batting and minimal quilting in a purple cotton thread along block outlines. 74" H x 68" W. Circa 1890. 2nd item: Drunkard's Path variant pattern quilt rendered in bright orange and neutral brown solid cotton fabrics with a brown border. The quilt has light cotton batting and has been applied to a solid brown backing with parallel line quilting throughout in a brown pearl cotton thread with a separately applied binding. 92" H x 70" W. 20th century.

Condition

1st item: Top with scattered holes throughout. Fraying and wear to dark fabrics, some areas with repair. Losses and wear to binding. Backing with scattered holes, many repaired, light staining, and color fading around fold lines. 2nd item: Overall very good condition with some very slight staining to top, fading in center and one edge, one hole to backing.
