1st item: Concessa Colaco (Brazil/Portugal, b. 1929) loom woven tapestry depicting a flowering urn and two exotic birds, within a decorative foliate border.  Stitched signature, "Concessa," lower right, with additional signature and title, "Encontro," to reverse. 36 in. W x 25 1/2 in. H. Note: Concessa Colaco is the daughter of Madeleine Colaco, who created the first Brazilian tapestry technique, the "Brazilian Stitch". Concessa began weaving tapestries in the late 1960s, expanding her mother's workshop and creating her own distinctive stitch, the "Corrido", inspired by the 11th century tapestries of Queen Matilda of France. Her work is made from natural wools and silks, never synthetic materials. Her tapestries have been sold to collectors worldwide including Queen Fabiola of Belgium and are part of the decoration of the official residence of the President of Brazil. 2nd item: Mary Ann Pedrosa loom-woven tapestry depicting various leaves, fruits and vegetables. Stitched signature "Mary Ann"  lower right. with additional labels en verso. 62 in. W  x 44 in. H. Both items third quarter 20th century.
