1st item: Belisario Gioja (Italy, 1829-1906) watercolor genre scene depicting a flirtatious young couple, possibly performers, in a lush garden with the dark-haired woman wearing a mantilla and fanning her seated companion dressed in a traditional matador's costume. Signed to stone bench "B. Gioja Roma" lower right. Housed and double matted under glass in a Rococo-style giltwood frame with shell accents and flourish corners. Sight: 19 1/4" H x 13 1/2" W. Framed: 30 1/4" H x 24 1/4" W. 2nd item: Giovanni Battista Lampi (Austria/Italy, 1751-1830) watercolor genre scene depicting a young woman with blue ribbons to her dress and bonnet eavesdropping on a couple engaged in secretive conversation in the woods. Signed "G. Lampi Milano" lower left. Matted but unframed. Sight: 13 1/2" H x 9 3/4" W. Mat: 21 1/4" H x 15 3/4" W.

Condition

1st item: Overall excellent condition. Not examined outside of frame. Frame with scattered minor losses to gilt. 2nd item: Minor warping to paper, but otherwise overall very good condition. Unframed.
