1st item: Impressionist oil on canvas springtime landscape painting attributed to Walter H. Goater (New York, 19th century) depicting sunlit, blooming trees having pink flowers with a woman carrying a basket walking down a walled pathway to the right and vague rooftops in the background, all beneath a clouded blue sky. Illegibly signed in red lower right. Paper label with artist attribution, medium, dimensions, and additional numbering affixed, en verso of stretcher. Housed in a fluted giltwood frame having plaque with erroneous attribution and dates affixed to lower edge. Sight: 8 3/4" H x 5 3/4" W. Framed: 15 3/4" H x 12 3/4" W. 2nd item: Oil on canvas landscape painting, titled "Mirror Lake", depicting a lake scene with two figures in a rowboat upon the calm water; a bird flying low in the foreground; dense forest in the midground; and steep, sunlit mountains in the background beneath a clouded sky. Signed "Eylau" lower right. Titled in pencil with additional illegible inscription, en verso. Housed in a giltwood frame with anthemion accents. Sight: 8 1/2" H x 12" W. Framed: 14 5/8" H x 18 3/4" W.

Condition

1st item: Minute area of craquelure in upper right quadrant. One minute area of exfoliation above signature in lower right corner. Frame is not original and has light scattered wear to gilt. 2nd item: Minor scattered exfoliation to paint layer; losses/wear across edges, largest area measuring 1/4" x 1/4". Canvas is lined with a tape repair, en verso. Frame with scattered wear to gilt and craquelure.
