1st-2nd items: PERSONAL MEMOIRS OF U.S. GRANT, First Edition, Vol. I & II, by Ulysses S. Grant, published by Charles L. Webster and Company, printed by J. J. Little and Company, New York, 1885-86. Hardcover octavos, 1,231 total marble-edged pages, including engraved frontispieces with tissue paper guards, additional illustrations, fold-out maps, and a tipped-in facsimile of an Appomattox Courthouse surrender document, hardbound in the publisher's original tan sheepskin binding, red and black moroccan leather labels on the spines with gilt lettering, four raised hubs, marbled paper pastedowns and end papers. 9 1/2" H x 6 1/2" W x 2" D. 3rd item: WILLIAM H. SEWARD'S TRAVELS AROUND THE WORLD, First Edition, edited by Olive Risley Seward, published by D. Appleton and Company, New York, 1873. Hardcover octavo, 730 marble-edged pages with back advertisments, engraved frontispiece with tissue paper guard and additional illustrations, three-quarter black leather with marbled-paper sides and gilt line borders, decorative gilt stamping and gilt lettering to spine, marbled paper pastedowns and end papers. 9 1/2" H x 6 3/4" W x 2 1/2" D.

Condition

1st-2nd items: Leather to spines are peeling, becoming separated from binding, wear to hinges, front covers are almost separated from binding, scuffs, general wear to leather, bumped corners. Pages in overall good condition with light toning, toning impressions/acid burn to tissue paper guards, some staining to end papers. 3rd item: Covers with general wear/areas of loss to paper and leather, wear to hinges, paper with areas of staining, corners bumped. First and last several pages, including frontispiece with areas of foxing spots, wrinkling, toning/acid burn, pencil inscriptions from previous owners, tears, largest 1" to edges of pages, with lighter degrees of toning to middle pages.
