Our July 6-7 Live Auction in Knoxville features more than 1,000 lots of Fine Art, Antiques and Jewelry from the founding family of Rogersville, TN, and from the historic Pinckney family of Charleston, SC; from the estate of William J. Eskind of Nashville; the living estate of Jerry Waters, Maryville, the estate of U.S. Ambassador Ron Schlicher of Brentwood, and from other fine estates and private and museum collections. Sale starts 9 AM Eastern Time on Saturday, July 6 (lots #1-671) and continues at 1 PM Sunday, July 7 (lots #672-1086) at our Knoxville Gallery, 4310 Papermill Drive.

3 Antique Boxes including 1 tea caddy, 1 oak silverware chest, and 1 trinket box. 1st item: Brass mounted oak chest with lift out tray and fitted and labeled felt compartments for silverware. 4 3/4" H x 18" W x 13" D. 2nd item: Mahogany tea caddy with two interior compartments, lighter wood edging and kite shaped escutcheon. 8" W x 5" D x 4 1/2" H. 3rd item: Trinket box, likely rosewood, with silver line inlay and circular mother of pearl inlaid medallions and escutcheon and a silk and paper lined interior. 3 3/4" H x 10" W x 6 3/4" D. All items mid to late 19th century.

PROVENANCE: Private Nashville collection. 

Condition

1st item: Silver chest is in good condition with shrinkage crack, wear and stains to exterior and remnants of an old label on back. Some wear to interior. 2nd item: Tea caddy exterior is in very good condition with a 1" area of repaired veneer to side of lid, and scattered other minor wear and shrinkage. Wear and losses to interior paper lining of lid. Baize lining of interior compartments has worn off. 3rd item: Overall good condition. Losses to some segments of silver wire inlay to exterior and fading to wood color on front and sides; wear and losses to interior linings.
