3 Civil War soldier images, including 1 gem-sized bust portrait of a Confederate soldier, unidentified, in a leather case, and 1 ninth-plate sized half-length portrait of an unidentified seated Union soldier in gutta percha case. Also included is a Quarter Plate size tintype of a seated soldier wearing what appears to be a Union uniform, with inscription to tape en verso noting his identity as Robert B. or H. Lovell (not Covell). The NPS Soldiers and Sailors Database shows a Robert B. Lovell, born 1840 in Nashville, Tennessee (served as a private in Baxter's Company, Tennessee Light Artillery, and died April 13, 1862, in a Knoxville hospital of typhoid fever), and a Robert H. Lovell of the 8th Indiana Regt. (Note: This image was acquired in Nashville, Tennessee, but with no further provenance). All American, circa 1860-65. 

Gem-sized Confederate image in excellent condition. Ninth plate image with lifting to the emulsion lower left corner. Quarter plate image with flakes and a scratch to the upper right quadrant of the image, with the scratch affecting the subject's face. The case is separated into halves.
