CDV and 3 ephemera items related to Civil War CSA soldier Adam Tooley Moore (B. North Carolina, 1825- d. Marion, Alabama, 1888, served 28th Alabama Infantry CSA). Includes Special Order dated Jan. 7, 1865, signed by R.W. Mayrant, dated Headquarters Lee's Camp, stating "A T Moore, clerk, will proceed without delay to Columbus Ms in obedience to the written order" and "approved by order of Genl. Hood." Also signed by John S. Bransford. (Note: Robert W. Mayrant was acting quartermaster of the 22nd Regt. Alabama Infantry and also served in the 3rd Alabama Regt). Also includes a Nov. 1, 1864 note from R.W. Mayrant ordering A.T. Moore to report to Capt. B-- at Marion Ala. "after transacting __entrusted to him"... signed R.W. Mayrant, Capt. and Paymaster, Johnson's Division.
Also included is a letter from Moore to his future wife Mollie Tabb, referring to the recent death of her brother, Captain William Henry Tabb, dated Nov. 11th, 1864, "Camp Near Tuscumbia, Ala," very faded; 1 CDV post Civil War era photograph of A.T. Moore in civilian clothing, with H.A. Olwell, Mobile, Alabama backstamp, 3 in x 2 1/2 in; and 1 Civil War era letter dated Oct. 17, 1864, addressed to Adam Tooley (A.T.) Moore from Nancy Burton of Gainsville Junction referring to a shirt she was making for him, letting him know it is ready and asking him to "send for it as soon as you please if you want it and if not let me now ameadly [sic - know immediately] as there is a great demand for it." (Note: three Civil War era shirts from this family, possibly including this shirt, are included in another lot in this auction).
Condition
Staining and small holes, fading to Jan. 7 order. Letter to Mollie Tabb is very faded and difficult to read, with staining. CDV with light toning and some faint minor stains. Letter regarding shirt: light fading and several creases. Nov. 1 1864 order is partially pasted to a paper backing and has some holes.

The Estates of Thomas Maxfield and Sara McIntyre Bahner, by descent in the family of Mollie Tabb Moore and her husband, Adam Tooley Moore.
