Biographical Note: Born near Urbino in 1930, Gio Pomodoro was a sculptor, printmaker, jewelry designer, and stage designer. In 1954 his family including his brother, the sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro, moved to Milan where the brothers joined the city's avant-garde art community. He is best known for his abstract sculpture, which he produced in both smaller scale and in the form of monumental public artworks.
