A grouping of 8 pieces of Civil War era / late 19th century clothing, including one shirt labeled in period script with the name of William Henry Tabb (1837-1864), Captain,14th Mississippi Regt., CSA (killed in action). The grouping includes 3 men's white fine linen or cotton shirts, 2 men's white cotton waistcoats or vests and 1 men's brown silk patterned vest, and 1 ladies white cotton nightgown or robe with embroidered detailing and 1 set of bloomers. The unidentified clothing is believed to have belonged to Captain Tabb's sister, Mary Tabb Moore (1841-1921) and her husband, Sgt. Adam Tooley Moore, CSA, 28th Alabama Regt. (1825-1888). Shirts all approximately 35 in L x 16 in W at shoulders. Vests 16 in to 20 in L. x 15 in W. Nightgown 55 in L. 

Condition

2 mens shirts including the shirt identified to W.H. Tabb have several substantial holes and some small stains. the other shirt is intact with some overall discoloration. Silk vest has significant shattering and holes to back. White cotton vests worn and frayed. Ladies nightgown has some small holes and small stains. All appear to have been dry-cleaned at some point.

The Estates of Thomas Maxfield and Sara McIntyre Bahner, by descent in the family of Mollie Tabb Moore, sister of Capt. William Henry Tabb and wife of A.T. Moore.
