English School oil on canvas genre painting after the original by Augustus Edwin Mulready (United Kingdom, 1844-1905), depicting a drummer boy in oversized military garb and a band of young children dressed as soldiers playing various household items as instruments or holding flags, set within a domestic interior. Housed in a molded giltwood frame with bead course decoration and foliate motifs. Sight: 9 1/2" H x 8" W. Framed: 14 5/8" H x 13 1/8" W. Mid to late 19th century.

Condition

Minor craquelure throughout. Minute loss at drum measuring 1/8" dia. Minute pinprick to canvas lower right edge. Frame with scattered craquelure and wear to right corners.
