Archive of primarily 19th c. letters, receipts, and documents relating to the Blakemore and Turpin family of Middle Tennessee, especially Nashville and Goodlettsville, and particularly to Andrew Jackson Blakemore, Sr. (1798-1882) and Andrew J. Blakemore, Jr. (1947-1926), c. 1820s-1950s. Some addressed to the younger Andrew's brother, Polk, who was a Confederate POW at Camp Butler, Illinois. Case Auctions sold a group of Polk’s letter in July 2025, lot 515. Includes partial lyrics to the song “Good Ol’ Rebel Soldier” on paper dated 1866, confirmations of memberships in Nashville-area church congregations, land deeds, voter registrations, advertisements, newspaper clippings, and numerous hand-written and printed receipts including rail bond receipts. All loose or housed in plastic sleeves, two leather wallets or purses, one cigar box, and one wooden box. Cigar box: 1 1/4 in. H x 7 3/4 in. W. x 5 1/4 in D. Box:  4 3/4 in. H x 8 1/4 in.
