Chinese He bronze cooking or pouring vessel, Han Dynasty (BC 206- AD 220), round form supported on three legs ending in hoof-form feet, with relief decorated cover and beak-form spout. 5 1/2 "H x 8" x 10". Inside, there is an old sales card from Shanghai Treasures of Los Angeles and a clipping showing a similar piece in an exhibit at the Otis Institute of Art and Design (LA).
Condition
Wear and oxidation commensurate with age, cover detached, hinged spout cover remains intact. Possible repair or reinforcement to one leg.
Provenance
The estate of a former resident of Los Angeles, California, acquired during his years spent living there in the 1950s.
