Chinese dark blue silk robe with Mandarin collar, Forbidden Stitch butterflies and peonies at chest and upper back; silk embroidered flowers throughout; gold button closure. Ivory ended sleeves with embroidered flowers, bats, and Shou symbols. Lined in pale blue silk. 38 1/2" length from top of back of collar to bottom edge. Early 20th century.

Overall good used condition. Interior with some fraying and small stains, one small hole to the lining of the upper back. Ivory sleeve ends exhibit some small stains and some small spots where fraying has begun. Some fraying and lost stitches at bottom edge. A couple of loose threads to forbidden stitch design on upper back. Couple of spots of fraying to ground on back of sleeve. Other scattered small losses, fraying, stains and spots of wear.
