Early railroad related photographic print by M. Edward Wilson showing Engine #112 of the Savannah Florida and Western Railway at a station in Waycross, Georgia. Several people are also pictured including a man, likely an engineer, standing at the front of the train, a man inside the engine, and another atop one of the cars, while a group of black and white bystanders are seen on either side of the train. Captioned in the image and dated Sept. 20, 1901, with M. Edw. Wilson signature lower right. Float mounted atop a beige mat under non-glare glass in a stained wood frame with beaded molding. Image - 19"W x 12 1/2"H. Frame - 28" x 24". Note: The Savannah, Florida and Western Railway was organized Dec. 9, 1879 and was the original line of the so-called Plant System, owned by Henry B. Plant, a system of railroads and steamboats in the Southern United States. It was taken over by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad in 1902. M. Edward Wilson was a Savannah based photographer working in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
