Greene Co., Tennessee, Chippendale walnut high chest with yellow pine secondary. Ogee cornice with three over two over three dovetailed drawers, tall bracket feet with spur returns. Three hidden dovetailed drawers behind the three dovetailed drawers at the top of the case, full-length dustboards. 57 1/4 in. H x 37 3/8 in. x 21 1/2 in. Greene County, Tennessee, late 18th/early 19th century. Provenance: Acquired from the Widow Bales home in the Camp Creek area of Greene County; the estate of the Late Thomas W. (Jack) and Dr. Frances Bernard Overall, Greeneville, Tennessee, and the estate of Donna C. Rogers, Greeneville, Tennessee. Condition
Older refinished surface. Scattered patches and repairs to drawer lips with the largest being the upper one inch edge of the top center drawer. The side moldings of the top having replaced sections of the upper ogee edge. Most of the drawers with the lower drawer sides built up. Retains the original feet with minor cracks, scattered regluing. Appears to retain some of the original wooden pulls.
