European School oil on canvas bust length painting of a young male child with strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes, wearing a white shirt with a ruffled collar and an olive green jacket with gold buttons, holding a black hat in his right hand against his chest, against a dark grey background, enclosed within a black oval opening. Unsigned. Housed in a giltwood frame with ebonized trim, scrolling foliate gilt bronze corner decorations, and a giltwood fillet. Sight: 18" H x 14" W. Framed: 21 1/2" H x 18" W. Late 18th/early 19th century.

Overall good condition with craquelure, scattered abrasions, areas of paint loss, largest 1/4", primarily to lower left corner. Canvas has been lined. Frame with abrasions, areas of loss to gilt, largest 1/4", top edge of fillet is not present.
