George Peter Alexander Healy (Illinois/Massachusetts/France, 1813-1894) oil on canvas bust length painting of a man in his late middle age, seated, wearing a mid 19th-century style suit with a brown silk cravat, against a brown background. Signed and dated "G.P.A. Healy 1859" lower left. Housed in a giltwood frame with a bead and reel running pattern. Also includes a copy of the catalog for the exhibition "Healy's Sitters" held at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, VA, January 24-March 5, 1950. Sight: 35 1/4" H x 28 1/4" W.
