Giuseppe Bortignoni (Italy, 1778-1860) oil on canvas genre painting, "Good Companions," 19th c. An elderly cavalier sits at a table in a grand domestic interior and leans forward as he blows smoke from his pipe toward a green parrot that raises its wings excitedly. Signed lower left. Housed in a molded giltwood frame with nameplate. With Findlay Galleries, Chicago label and Frost & Reed label with attribution, title, and registration number 14752 affixed to backing. Sight: 14 1/4 in. H x 10 1/2 in. W. Framed: 19 3/4 in. H x 15 3/4 in. W
Condition
Overall very good condition. With fine, stable craquelure throughout. Frame with negligible abrasions and losses, most not visible frontally.
