Harry Neyland (American, 1877-1958) oil on board impressionist painting depicting figures strolling between terraces in the Luxembourg Garden in Paris, surrounded by lush green trees, with the central dome of the Luxembourg palace visible in the distance. Signed and dated lower right: "Harry Neyland / Paris 190_". Housed in a wide gilt cove molded frame with carved corner decoration. Panel: 16 in H x 13 in W. Frame: 25 in H x 22 in W. Note: although known primarily for his New England scenes, Harry Neyland studied under several distinguished painters in Paris, possibly during the period of time when this landscape was created. He also attended the Art Students League in New York and was director of the Swain Free School of Design from 1911-1930. 

Condition

Overall very good condition. Thin 3-inch scratch to bottom of painting, near signature, with minimal paint loss. Frame is not original. A few abrasions to frame at upper left and on side edges.
