Spanish Colonial, possibly Cuzco school, oil on panel painting depicting the Madonna and Child with the Madonna holding a book and the Christ child holding a piece of fruit, possibly an apple or pear. Stamp affixed in lower left corner. Housed in a simple giltwood frame. Sight: 18 1/4" H x 16" W. Framed: 22 1/2" H x 20 " W. 18th century. Acquired March, 1958 from Beaver Hat Antiques, MIddleburg, Virginia.

Scattered flaking and natural age crack to center of panel cohesive with age. Scattered areas of flaking with light inpainting, and overpainting to age crack in center. A thick, restorative varnish has been applied to the surface of the work. Frame with wear and gilt re-painting.
