Dutch School, 17th century-style oil on beveled wood panel half-length portrait of a cavalier standing with arms akimbo. A sword hangs from his left hip and he wears a plumed hat and cuirass. With remnants of old stickers en verso and pencil inscribed "8112" and illegible writing, possibly "Jan Weenix." Housed in an ornate, carved giltwood frame with ebonized wood liner. Panel: 7 1/2" H x 5 5/16" W. Frame: 16 1/4" H x 14 1/4" W. Likely 19th century.

Condition
2" L moderate but stable split extending downward from left forearm to sword, plus minor, stable splits to lower edge and frame abrasions. Fine craquelure throughout.
