American, Mid-Atlantic tall case clock, mahogany with white pine and poplar secondary and 8 day brass works. Swan's neck pediment with carved rosettes and central urn finial, dentil molded frieze over four full columns at each corner of the hood and an arched dial with moon, ships and pastoral decoration; maps, and a chapter ring enameled with Arabic numerals and floral spandrels. Pierced steel hour, minute and second hands. Cavetto molding over a waist with flame mahogany veneer frieze and rectangular door having a pitch inlaid escutcheon, carved quarter columns to front corners, atop a base with flame grained and crossbanded veneer and four ogee bracket feet. Retains pendulum, winding key and pulleys. 103"H x 21"W x 11"D. Late 18th to early 19th century. 

PROVENANCE: Previously from the collection of former antique dealers Jane and John Luna from Columbia, TN, descended in the family.

Condition

Craquelure and paint losses up to 1" to dial. Sections of replaced veneer to lower facing of one front foot and to side of the facing on the other front foot. Loss to one carved side return. One small section of missing dentil molding to top front corner.  Other scattered minor losses, shrinkage, abrasions, and wear. Works not tested or guaranteed. Weights not present.
