Signed "Van Zandt" upper left corner, possibly for William Garrett Van Zandt (American/New York, 1857-1942). Housed in a giltwood frame with foliate and bead course decoration and black lacquer top edge. Sight: 21 3/4" H x 17 3/4" W. Framed: 29 1/2" H x 25 1/2" W. Late 19th century.
Painting has undergone professional conservation including a fiberglass lining with polyester interleaf, retouching, and varnishing. Summary of conservation on label affixed en verso. Minor retouching visible under UV light inspection, craquelure throughout. Copy of conservation report available on request.
