Pair of Neoclassical style carved, painted, and parcel gilt armchairs, likely Italian, having shaped crests over carved central splat with swag, foliate, and fan decoration; straight carved arms with curving armrests; trapezoidal cane seats; and fluted tapering legs. Applied gilded rosettes to the back splat, arm terminus, and seat corners. Fitted with modern green silk seat cushions. 39 3/8" H x 24" W x 18 1/4" D. 19th century.
The Collection of William and Fletch Coke, Nashville, Tennessee.
Both chairs in overall good condition. Scattered minor losses to paint decoration and rosettes; wear to seats.
