Piedmont, North Carolina, salt-glazed stoneware pottery jug stamped D. CAGLE for Dan Cagle (Moore County, 1854-1926). Semi-ovoid form with a pulled handle applied to the upper shoulder to the neck. Stamped D. CAGLE WHY NOT N.C. on the middle shoulder opposite the handle, two incised lines circling the upper shoulder, and an incised 2 left of the handle denoting the gallon capacity. 15" H. Late 19th/Early 20th century.
Condition
Very good condition with a couple of chips to the rim and the base.
