Pair of Minton's Pate-Sur-Pate cabinet plates, possibly decorated by Albion Birks, each with pierced and gilded fret-decorated rims surrounding a wide border with white slip-decorated birds, butterflies, and flowers, enclosing a central medallion with crown, cipher, and sheaf of wheat motifs. Stamped Minton's China en verso with retailer mark of T. Goode & Co. London. Impressed English registry marks with other assorted numerical markings. 9 1/2" diameter. Circa 1874.

Condition

Both plates have tiny edge flakes where the blue ground joins the gilt rim, up to 1/4" L, and associated crazing. Both plates have multiple poorly repaired breaks to pierced rims. One with wear to gilding on central medallion. One plate rim has been re-attached from break.
