Southern folk art carved walnut box with applied geometric floral carving and diamond symbols to lid and floral carving to front panel; chest form with hinged lid, removable interior four-part compartment, original old varnish, and key lock to front, poplar secondary wood. 9 1/4" H x 15 5/8" W x 9" D. East Tennessee or Southwest Virginia, 2nd half of 19th century.

Some splitting and age to wood, surface scratching and areas of loss. Largest area approximately 2" L on right-hand side. Old patina.
