Three (3) piece Stebbins & Company New York coin silver temple form tea set with octagonally segmented bodies having panels with floral chased sprays and cartouches surrounding monogram HPJ separated by Corinthian column forms, naturalistic repousse branch handles and gooseneck spouts, four grape bunch shaped feet, and domed lids having chased foliate designs and turnip finials, including one (1) teapot with hinged lid, one (1) creamer with hinged lid, and one (1) sugar bowl with fitted lid. All items stamped with maker's mark to underside. Ranging in size from 7 1/2" H x 8" W x 4 3/8" D to 9 3/4" H x 11 1/4" W x 6 1/2" D. American, circa 1850. 84.450 total troy ounces. Note: this service has been in the collection of Judge John Nixon of Nashville for over 20 years. A nearly identical 3 piece set from the Charles Venable collection was sold Nov. 16, 2021 by Heritage Auctions, with discussion by Venable on the rarity and background of Stebbins and this style of service. A similar set is on loan to the Bayou Bend Collection at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
