Three (3) books signed by Margaret Mitchell and presented to various family members. 1st Item: THE POEMS OF ALGERNON CHARLES SWINBURN, ed. Richard Henry Stoddard. New York: Thomas Y. Crowell & Co., 1884. Gift inscribed and signed by Margaret Mitchell "To Father / from / Margaret and John / Christmas 1931". Retains bookplate of Stephens Mitchell. 7" x 5". 2nd Item: STORIES FROM SCOTTISH HISTORY Selected from Scott's Tales of a Grandfather, Madalen Edgar. New York: Thomas Y. Crowell & Co., 1906. Signed and inscribed by Margaret to her nephews, "To Eugene and Joe / Mitchell, this book I / read when I was / their age / Aunt Margaret / Nov. 27, 1937". 6" x 4".  3rd Item: LYDIA BAILEY by Kenneth Roberts, Garden City: Doubleday & Co, Inc. 1947. Gift inscribed by Margaret Mitchell to her brother: "Stephens / From / Margaret / Jan. 14, 1947".  Retains bookplate of Stephens Mitchell. 8 1/2" x 6". Note: Stephens Mitchell (1896-1983), brother to Margaret Mitchell, was a renowned Atlanta attorney. After Margaret's and her husband's (John Marsh) deaths, Stephens was named heir of Margaret Mitchell's estate. After Stephens' death in 1983, the estate was passed on to his two sons Eugene and Joseph Mitchell.

Condition

1st Item (Poems): front cover and end paper 2/3 detached. 2nd Item (Scottish): Cloth is worn, spine cloth missing. Front flyleaf detached but present. 3rd Item (Lydia): Very good condition, dust jacket with some toning and chipping.
