Tennessee cherry Jackson press, possibly Rose Cabinetmaking shop, Knoxville area. Poplar secondary, two-part construction. The top section with a slanted ogee molded cornice and plain frieze over two latticework glazed doors opening to four shelves; the lower section with two dovetailed drawers over two paneled doors, flanked by fully-turned pilasters, paneled case sides, the whole resting on turned legs terminating into ring and ball feet. 87 1/2" H x 43" W x 21 1/4" D. Circa 1830.

PROVENANCE: Previously from the collection of former antique dealers Jane and John Luna from Columbia, TN, descended in the family.

Condition

Older refinished surface with scattered abrasions or wear to the cornice and upper stiles. Drawer sides built up. Horizontal strip of wood applied to the upper part of the back of the base. Some evidence of old insect damage to the back.
