1st item: Victorian English sterling silver calling card case rectangular form with shallow hinged lid, chased geometric patterns in vertical stripes, and a plain cartouche monogrammed I. Dyer. Stamped with hallmarks for Robert Thornton, 1873, and Birmingham. Includes fitted, blue velvet lined case with push latch. 3 7/8" H x 2 3/4" W x 1/4" D. Case: 4 5/8" H x 3 1/2" W x 3/4" D. Note: This calling card case was originally owned by Louisiana physician, Dr. Isadore Dyer, who was one of the leading authorities on leprosy, making some of the initial propositions for its cure. He was the founder and first president of the Board of Control at "The Home" at Carville, Louisiana, as well as the Dean of Tulane School of Medicine. During his time at Tulane, he was an expert witness before the Senate during the hearings for passing a bill for the first national leprosarium which ultimately was successful (source: International Leprosy Association). 2nd item: Lunt sterling silver round tray with plain rim stamped with makers mark, STERLING, and 95-D to underside of rim. 7" dia. 6.18 total weighable troy ounces.

Condition

1st item: Minute scattered surface wear. Fitted case with fraying to lining and surface wear. 2nd item: Minor scattered surface wear including scratches.
