Copperplate engraving with handcoloring depicting Peru and the surrounding territories, including a portion of Brazil labeled "Portuguese Possessions" and "Unknown Parts", with place names, territory borders, bodies of water, mountain ranges, and other areas of interest, including the locations of Native American tribes and natural resources, labeled in Spanish and English text. Includes an inset map, lower left. Title and scales of miles, lower right, inset map scales of miles, lower left. Surrounded by scale notations and a line border. Housed and matted under plexiglass in a wooden frame with gilt trim. Sight: 20" H x 27 3/4" W. Framed: 30 1/2" H x 37 3/4" W. 2nd item: PERU, CHILI AND LA PLATA map, drawn and engraved for a New General Atlas by John Thomson, printed by George Ramsay and Company, Edinburgh; Baldwin, Cradock, and Joy, London; and John Cumming, Dublin, circa 1817. Toning, toning impressions, scattered minute foxing spots, waviness to sheets. Not examined outside of frames. Frame with scattered abrasions.
