Four (4) Majolica items, including Ulisse Cantagalli. 1st-2nd items: Pair of Italian Majolica chargers having polychrome painted Renaissance-style male and female portraits to the central medallions, possibly representing the Greek gods Zeus and Hera, surrounded by a wide border with the reclining figures of two partial nude figures with scrolling foliate and griffin decorations, a bead and reel motif surrounding the central medallions and the outer rim. Unmarked. Each with two drills holes and a hanging wire, en verso. 1 1/2" H x 18" dia. Early 20th century. 3rd-4th items: Pair of Ulisse Cantagalli (Italian, 1839-1901) majolica candlesticks having polychrome painted Renaissance-style winged gargoyle caryatids each holding an upside down helmets above their head and standing on top of a dolphin, terminating in round bases. Blue rooster marks and numerals to underside of bases. 13 3/4" H x 6" dia. Last quarter 19th century.

Condition

1st-2nd items: Both with expected wear to polychrome, particularly to the rims, flaws in the making, largest 2", primarily to underside of bases. Male portrait charger with areas of errant polychrome or surface grime to central medallion, 3/4" x 1/2" areas of loss, to the left of the female figure's hip. 3rd-4th items: Minor scattered fleabites, primarily to edges of bases, wings, and helmets, some with inpainting. One with drill hole to back of head.
