Two (2) Roman architectural etchings by Giovanni Battista Piranesi (Italian, 1720-1778). 1st item: Concerning the Fountainhead of the Acqua Giulia, from The Ruins of the Fountainhead of the Aqua Giulia, originally published 1761. Plate: 15 3/8" H x 8 1/4" W. Sheet: 19 1/2" H x 11 3/4" W. Frame: 25 3/4" H x 19 1/2". Ref.: Focillon 403, Wilton-Ely 397. 2nd item: Practical Illustrations of the Spillway of Lake Albano, from the series Description and Design of the Emissarium of Lago Albano, originally published 1762, printed by Francesco Piranesi (Italian, 1756-1810), Paris, First Edition. With sticker of Henry Sotheran Limited, London, affixed to backing. Plate: 15 1/2" H x 24 3/4" W. Sheet: 21 1/2" H x 30 3/4" W. Frame: 35 3/4" H x 27 1/4". Ref.: Focillon 486, Wilton-Ely 489. Both items on laid paper and housed behind plexiglass in modern, black and gilt frames with white mats. Condition

1st item is affixed to canvas support to stabilize 14" tear along platemark at right. With mat burn, foxing, and toning. 2nd item with unobtrusive foxing. The central crease has been stabilized with tape en verso. Both with wide margins.
