1st item: Theodore Gericault (France, 1791-1824) Lithograph on wove paper titled "Cheval de Mecklembourg", from the series Etudes de Chevaux Lithographies, published by Godefroy Engelmann, Paris, 1822. Depicts a bridled horse being restrained by a young stable boy before a wall and a stable. Artist names and title printed lower left, center, and right below the image. Taylor Clark, Baton Rouge, LA, gallery label, en verso. Housed under glass and matted with a gilt sight edge in a giltwood frame. Sight: 8 1/2" H x 10 1/2" W. Framed: 14 1/2" H x 15 3/4" W. 2nd item: Etching by Leopold Flameng (Belgium/France, 1831-1911) after the painting titled "Les Majas Au Balcon" by Francisco Jose de Goya y Lucientes (Spain, 1746-1828), printed by A. Salmon, Paris, 1876. Depicts two young female "Majas" or Spanish courtesans dressed in early 19th century gowns and lace mantillas, peering over the rail of a balcony, with men two standing in the shadows behind them. Artist names and title printed lower left, center, and right below the image. Etching has been cut down, pasted to an off white paper backing, and hinge-mounted to an off white mat. Image: 8" H x 5 5/8" W. Sheet: 15 1/4" H x 11 5/8" W. Mat: 20 1/4" H x 14" W.

Condition

Both items in overall good condition. 1st item: Toning/acid burn with scattered foxing spots, largest 1/2". Frame with separations to bottom edge. Not examined outside of frame. 2nd item: Scattered foxing spots, scuffs, largest 1/4". Pencil inscriptions to mat.
