Provenance: The collection of Gary Glesser of Loudon, Tennessee, by descent from his grandparents, Captain Hoyt and Rachel Holton of Toledo, Ohio. 2nd item: American School maritime scene depicting boats at sea under a hazy grey sky. Singed "J.M.J. '88" lower left. Paper label for "Charles G Calder, 258 Westminster St. Providence, R.I." affixed, en verso. Housed in a giltwood frame with s-scroll decoration. Sight: 8" H x 5 3/4" W. Framed: 12 1/4" H x 10 1/2" W. Early 20th century.

Condition
1st item: Overall good condition with light surface grime. 2nd item: Paint loss and craquelure in middle of work, area of loss approximately 1". Some very minor fleabite losses. Frame with losses to s-scroll decoration and previous old glue repairs. Area of a loss approximately 2", lower right.
