Three (3) Large Japanese Imari porcelain chargers with polychrome enamel decorations and gilt highlights. 1st item: Edo Period charger with lobed octagonal rim having a central vignette depicting a foo dog or temple lion in a landscape setting, surrounded by foliate sprays and a floral border, the rim having a wide border with alternating vignettes depicting cranes flying over a landscape setting and a turtle-dragon or bixi depicted with various precious objects flanked by panels of scrolling foliate decorations against blue grounds. Red and blue foliate, lingzhi, and bat decorations to underside of rim. Red character seal to underside of base. 2 1/4" H x 17" dia. 2nd item: Meiji Period charger with scalloped rim having a central vignette of a flowering planter with an image of a "Cash" coin to the body, surrounded by a wide border of alternating landscape vignettes with birds and panels of foliate and "Knot" decorations. Blue foliate decorations to underside of rim. Unmarked. Mounted with a wire for hanging to underside of base and rim. 2 3/4" H x 21 3/4" dia. 3rd item: Meiji Period charger with scalloped rim having a central vignette of a flowering planter, surrounded by a wide border of alternating landscape vignettes, three with birds, against a blue and red ground with foliate decorations. Blue foliate and bird decorations to underside of rim. Unmarked. 2 3/4" H x 18 1/4" dia. Late 19th/early 20th century.

Condition

Scattered flakes, losses to enamel, largest 3/8" x 1/4". Minor scattered flaws in the making.
