1st item: Ohara Koson (Japan, 1877-1945) shin hanga kacho-e woodblock print depicting a deer in a mountainous landscape. Signed and with seal, lower right. Ref.: Newland K41.9. Unframed. 14 3/8" H x 7 3/8" W. 2nd item: Ohara Koson woodblock print depicting a moorhen or gallinule in a reed marsh. Signed and with seal, lower right. Ref.: K23.4. Unframed. 9 3/4" H x 10" W. 3rd item: Woodblock print, possibly Ohara Koson, depicting two mallards on a body of water, one just alighting or taking flight. Unframed. 6 3/4" H x 15" W. 4th item: Watercolor painting on silk in the manner of Beihong Xu (Chinese, 1895-1953), depicting two galloping horses. Unframed, mounted to card stock with decorative silk border. Image: 11 7/8" H x 15 3/4" W. Mount: 13 7/8" H x 17 3/4" W.
Condition
1st-2nd items with fading, toning to sheet, and foxing, hinge mounted to backings with glue. 1st item with dog-ear crease to and 3/8" tear, upper right corner. 3rd item with fading, toning to sheet, and 2" L black mark to center. Hinge mounted to backing with glue. 4th item with abrasions and losses to silk plus horizontal crease to lower quarter and minor damp staining.
