Three (3) late 18th - early 19th century silk embroideries, likely European. 1st item: A silk embroidered religious picture depicting the Virgin Mary at the foot of the cross, with the face of Christ emblazoned on a shroud held aloft by angels. At the bottom of the image is a banner reading "Circumdederunt me dolores mortis" ("The sorrows of death surrounded me," Psalm 17). Under glass in a molded giltwood period lemon gilt frame. Sight: 20 1/2 in. H x 15 in. W. Frame: 24 in. H x 18 in. W. 2nd item: Watercolor and Silk embroidered picture, likely a mourning textile, depicting a naturalistic pavilion beside two two trees and a young weeping willow, before an intricate fence. Matted and framed under glass in a molded frame with dark gold color gilding. Sight: 13 in. W x 9 in. H. Frame: 19 1/2 in. W x 15 1/2 in. H. 3rd item: Oval watercolor and silk embroidered mourning picture, depicting a woman in blue dress in a landscape; she leans against a column looking sadly at a mask in her hand. Under glass with a reverse glass painted black and gold mat and old, likely original oval giltwood frame. Image: 9 in. H x 7 1/2 in. W. Frame: 14 in. H x 12 in. W.
1st item: Overall good condition but some scattered losses including losses to brown threads along left side of image; possible staining center right edge, fading. Some gilding losses to frame. 2nd item: some fraying to threads on pavilion, light fading, otherwise good condition. Some discoloration to silk mat and gilding losses to frame. 3rd item: Shattering to silk background, fading, with one spot of staining. Considerable gilding losses to frame.

Unless you are a known customer of Case Auctions, payment for all gold, precious metal, and gem lots must be made by bank wire transfer, ACH, certified bank check, or money order. No exceptions.
If you pick up your lots from any of our galleries, Tennessee state sales tax will apply. Sales tax will only be waived if you provide a valid resale certificate from your state of residence.
If paying with a credit card, a 3.5% credit card processing fee will be applied to the final sales price (i.e. hammer price + buyer's premium + applicable taxes). If you have a credit card on file with Case, any winning bids will be automatically charged (up to $3000) along with applicable fees 72 hours after you receive your invoice unless other arrangements have been made.
