Geo. Harris, Public Printer, Nashville, 1840. Includes three original fold-out maps, all 1840. First map is hand-colored and entitled "Section of the State of Tennessee from two of the most Eastern extremities of the State, Roane Mountain in Carter Co[unt]y and Smoky Mountain in Cocke Co[unt]y." Second map is hand-colored and entitled "Geological Map of the State of Tennessee by G. Troost Geologist of the State." Third map is entitled "Geological Map of Cocke County, East Tenn. by G. Note: Dr. Gerard Troost, a native of the Netherlands, was Tennessee's first State Geologist and first President of the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences.
