Seven (7) portrait miniatures of gentleman. 1st item: Portrait of Louis XVI depicted wearing a gold embroidered, red velvet coat over pink vest with white cravat. Printed informational label affixed, en verso. Housed in an oval gilt bronze pendant within a giltwood frame having red velvet lining. Sight (oval): 3 1/8" H x 2 1/2" W. Framed: 7 1/2" H x 6 1/2" W. 2nd item: Portrait of a French nobleman depicted with mustache and earring wearing a red-trimmed blue military coat. Informational label with provenance information affixed, en verso. Housed under glass in an oval brass pendant frame. Sight: 2 3/4" H x 2 1/4" W. Framed: 3 1/8" H x 2 3/8" W. 3rd item: Portrait of a young man depicted with curly black hair wearing a black dress coat over a pink vest and white cravat. Housed under glass in a silver oval pendant frame. Sight: 3" H x 2 1/4" W. Framed: 3 1/2" H x 2 5/8" W. 4th item: Portrait of a gentleman depicted wearing a blue coat over a floral embroidered vest and a white cravat. Informational label affixed, en verso. Housed under glass in an oval brass pendant frame. Sight: 2 3/8" H x 1 5/8" W. Framed: 2 5/8" H x 1 7/8" W. 6th item: Profile portrait of a gentleman depicted wearing a brown jacket over a white undershirt and cravat with a blue ribbon in his hair. Housed under glass in an oval leather locket frame with two hook latches. Sight: 1 5/8" H x 1 3/8" W. Locket: open: 1 7/8" H x 3 1/8" W; closed: 1 7/8" H x 1 5/8" W. 7th item: Portrait of a gentleman with shoulder length hair depicted wearing a blue, thick-collared jacket over a red shirt. Housed under glass in an oval metal frame with ribbon crest. Sight: 1 1/2" H x 1 1/8" W. Framed: 2 5/8" H x 2" W. All pieces late 18th to mid 19th century.

Condition

1st item: Minute surface wear along lower edge. 2nd item: Minor surface wear including minute abrasion to left of subject's shoulder. Minor inclusions beneath the glass. 3rd item: Hairline across upper portion of portrait measuring 1 7/8" L. Minor discoloration to left portion of coat and minute abraision to background area to left of subject. 4th item: Scattered surface wear primarily to upper left portion. Minute inclusions beneath the glass. 5th item: Frame with minor bend. 6th item: Minor surface abrasion to lower edge. Painting has shift slightly inside frame. Locket with wear and discoloration to leather; one hook latch slightly bent. 7th item: Painting has been overcleaned resulting in the subject's face and most of the background being skinned. Wear and minor losses to backing. Frame with scattered wear.
