8 miniature portrait items including 1 German hand-painted porcelain portrait plaque set into the lid of a bronze metal circular trinket box, 1 miniature portrait of a gentleman in burgundy coat with dark hair, identified en verso as "Grandfather George Sutton about 27"; 1 small Continental miniature portrait of a man in tricorn hat; 1 oval miniature portrait of a gentleman in blue coat with powdered wig; 1 oval portrait miniature of a woman in pink dress with pink ribboned bonnet (with signature after Richard Cosway), under glass in a gold metal filigree frame with tag stating "estate of Countess Szecheny"; 1 circular portrait of a woman with intricate lace collar, set into the lid of a circular bone trinket box; 1 rectangular miniature portrait of a young woman in white dress with blue shawl, under glass in Rococo style giltwood frame; and 1 rectangular portrait miniature of an older woman with black dress and plaid shawl, under glass in Rococo style giltwood frame, with inscription verso suggesting the subject was the daughter of Capt. Robert Rich, Commander of the Loyal Bermondsey Volunteers and Captain of the 1st Surrey Volunteers, who married a Mr. Fox. Items range in age from circa 1830 to late 19th/early 20th c. Sizes range from 1 1/2 in. Diameter to 10 in. x 9 in. 

Condition

The portrait on the circular bone box has a full split down the middle, affecting image, and wear to background. Portrait of George Sutton is cupped with small loss to left lower edge; losses to frame. Oval portrait of man in blue coat with minor losses to paint, especially in face area  Exposed pins hold the portrait into the frame; use caution when handling. Warping to wafer on the rectangular portrait of the older woman and some small flakes to facial area; losses to gold frame. Flakes to edge on rectangular portrait of younger woman; losses to gold frame.
