Antique Persian Farahan Sarouk carpet, wool on cotton foundation. Dark red-shaped center medallion on a shaped ivory field with red ground spandrels. Scrolling foliate and medallion designs throughout and three primary borders. Woven in colors of brick red, blue, salmon, brown and cream. 12 ft. x 8 ft. 3 in. Late 19th century.
Condition
Horizontal tears throughout ranging from 1 in. to 2 in. Overall pile wear with heavier pile wear noted to the ends. Scattered grime and staining are most noticeable in cream areas. Hooks for hanging added en verso.
