Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver in .36 Caliber. Serial number 71576 corresponds to year 1857, with matching frame, barrel, butt, loading lever and trigger guard numbers; wedge marked "1576." Barrel marked "Address Saml Colt New York City"; the frame under cylinder is marked "Colts Patent / U.S.". Walnut stocks, octagonal barrel, brass trigger guard and back strap, iron mounted, checkered hammer, standard front sight, loading lever. Barrel 7 1/2" L, Overall 13 1/2" L.
PROVENANCE: Private Knoxville, Tennessee collection.
Condition
Exhibits scattered small dings and pitting on metal surfaces. The cylinder engraving is worn away. Action functions smoothly, bore with grime and slight pitting.
