1st item: Salvador Dali (Spain, 1904-1989) etching rendered in reddish brown ink, titled Don Quixote/The Horseman. In the foreground a rider holds a shield and lance and sits astride a rampant horse. Two small figures occupy the middle ground while a mountain range rises in the distance. All described with gestural linework. Signed in pencil "Dali," lower right, and editioned "E.A.," lower left. Housed under glass in a metallic frame with brown canvas mat with cream and brown reveals. Plate: 15 1/4" H x 11 1/2" W. Sight. 18 6/8" H x 13 6/8" W. Frame: 26 1/4" H x 21 3/8" W. Ref.: Field 64-4 and p. 237, Michler/Lopsinger 99. Note: Dali produced an initial version of this composition in 1964 which he later canceled. The second plate was printed by Emiliano Sorini, New York, and published in 1975 by Levine and Levine, New York. Field notes that "An edition of unknown size was printed by Sorini, of which Dali signed 200 numbered prints. A 'large' number of E.A.'s were also printed, some of which Dali might have signed. A German print club distributed to its members 149 unnumbered prints and 40 EA's, all signed." (Source: The Official Catalog of the Graphic Works of Salvador Dali, by Albert Field, New York, 1996). 2nd item: Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881-1973) etching entitled Pour Roby, sometimes called L'Age De Soleil, depicting an expressive face rendered using minimal linework. Signed "Picasso" and titled "Pour Roby" in reverse in plate. With Collector's Guild labels on backing. From the 1969 Collector's Guild restrike edition of the 1950 print. Housed under plexiglass in a metal and ebonized wood frame with white mat. Sight: 10 1/2" H x 7 1/2" W. Frame: 15 1/8" H x 12 1/8" W.
