Large English School, early 18th century, oil on canvas seascape painting depicting a fleet of English ships sailing off a coast. The center man o'war ship flies a royal standard. Unsigned. Sight - 42 1/2"W x 16 1/2"H. Framed - 48"W x 22"H.

Private Nashville, Tennessee collection. Canvas has old wax lining; craquelure and light grime throughout. 2 small dark marks, largest 1/4"L, upper left in sky area. Small (about 1 1/2" diameter) area of inpainting right side, center, visible under UV light. White marks at far right side near horizon are paint dabs, not losses. 1/2" area of indention with some possible paint loss and repair at center. Painting professionally cleaned. Later frame with some age cracking and wear.
